About Thomas J. Owens

Tom graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1968 and received a master’s degree in engineering management from UMR in 1971.  He continued his education receiving an MBA from Rockhurst College in 1981 and earned a professional degree from UMR in 1986.  Owens was a three-year starter for the Miner football team at tackle, where he earned honorable mention All-MIAA laurels as a senior.  He was the co-captain of both the 1966 and 1967 squads and earned the “Most Valuable Lineman” award that same year.  Tom was selected by the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League in its 1968 player draft.  He recently retired from Crayola Corp. where he was vice president of operations.  He also served in executive positions with Hallmark in Kansas City, Mo.  Tom served as a member of the board of directors of the United Way and the Sisters of Charity Health Services Corporation. He is a member of Rotary International and other community and civic organizations.  Tom was inducted in the Miner Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993 and is also a member of the S&T Engineering Management Academy.  Tom and his wife Linda live in Easton, Pa.
