About John R. Frerking

John graduated from UMR with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1987.  While attending UMR, John was a member of the football team for four years as a defensive end.  He was on the last MIAA conference champion team in 1983 and that year was twice selected as the conference’s defensive player of the week.  He was named to the 1983 and 1985 MIAA All-Conference teams and to the MSM/UMR All-Century Team in 1993, while representing M-Club as an Honorary Knight of St. Patrick in 1986.  John is manager of business development for Burns & McDonnell’s Infrastructure group.  He has been with Burns & Mac for over 15 years.  John is a member of many professional and technical organizations.  He is past president of the Engineer’s Club of Kansas City and serves as a vice president of the Miner Alumni Association.   He has also served as chair of the S&T Civil Engineering Advisory Council and is currently co-chair of the Miner Alumni Association Athletic Studies Committee.  He was elected as an honorary member of Chi Epsilon and was awarded the civil engineering exemplary alumni award in 1998.  John is serving on the membership committee of the AMA.  He lives in Kansas City, Mo., with his wife, Mary, and their two children, Abigail and Mathew.
