About Donald J. Dowling, Jr.

Don graduated from MSM in 1951.  He was a four-year letterman in football and was the team’s fullback and co-captain in 1950 when the Miners went to the Corn Bowl.  The Miner football team was conference champions in three of the four years that Don played.  After graduation, Don served on active duty in the US Army in the Chemical Corp and later as a high school football official and was President and a referee and coach for the East Memphis Soccer Association.  Now retired, Don was a product manager for Buckeye Cellulose and had a distinguished career of over 40 years as a chemical and production engineer for Proctor and Gamble in Memphis.  He is a member of AIChE and the American Oil Chemists Society.   Don is also a member of OGS as well as the Academy of Chemical Engineers.  He has been a generous supporter of the Miner athletic program over the years and was a major contributor to the recent renovation of the Hall of Fame Room in Rolla.  He also funds a scholarship in his name for a football player at S&T.  Don lives in Sun City, Ariz.  He and his wife have seven children and Don has 30 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
