2022 Inductee
Robert VanDerWall earned a bachelor of science degree in mining engineering in 1994 and was a member of the cross country and track and field teams. He earned an MBA from the University of Texas-San Antonio in 2003 and holds a PE license in mining engineering.
Robert has 27 years of experience in mining. The first portion of his career focused on engineering projects in the aggregate and construction materials industries. For the last 18 years he has managed various mining and material processing operations for limestone and sand and gravel materials.
Robert currently serves as mine manager for the U.S. and Canada operations for Omya Inc., which specializes in calcium carbonate products among other industrial minerals. He is an active member with SME, NSSGA (National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association) and the IMA (Industrial Minerals Association).
Robert and his wife, Pamela, have one son, Aidan, who was recently appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where he plans to major in marine engineering and participate in football.
