Michael graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy with a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering in 1960. Michael lettered in cross country and track & field while attending MSM from 1956-60. He was the first MIAA cross country champion at the 1958 league meet held in Rolla and helped the Miners win the team title. Michael was named as the “Athlete of the Year” and served as M-Club president while at MSM; he was inducted into the Miner Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. He went from trainee to head ceramic engineer for U.S. Steel Corporation in Chicago, Ill. Subsequently, he spent thirty eight years in top managerial positions within the motorcycle industry as Director of Amateur Sports for the American Motorcyclist Association and Director of Dealer Membership for the Motorcycle Industry council. Michael is a member of the Jackling Jocks Alumni Association and lives in Morgan Hill, Calif.
