Ken received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1963 and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from UMR in 1966. He went on to get his JD degree from MIzzou and his LL.M degree from George Washington University Law School in 1975. While at the university, Ken was an outstanding football player and was selected to be on an Army football team in Europe along with Paul Wiegand and Andy Russell – but he ended up with different orders before his first game. Before that, in high school, Ken played varsity basketball with former New York Knick star, Senator Bill Bradley. He is currently counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emory based in Washington, D.C. He focuses his practice on patent, trademark, copyright and acquisition matters as well as trade-secret litigation and counseling. Prior to his position with MW&E, Ken served as a lawyer with the US Atomic Energy Commission and the US Department of Energy. He is a member of the Missouri State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and numerous other professional organizations. Ken is a member of the OGS and is also a member of the S&T Academy of Mechanical Engineers. He is being honored on Saturday night of Homecoming by receiving an alumni achievement award from the Miner Alumni Association. Ken lives in Bumpass, Va., with his wife, Shirley.
