Sarah is in her 34th year on staff at Missouri S&T where she has held a variety of positions. Sarah started and coached women’s softball (1979-1983), women’s cross country (1982-2003), and women’s track & field (1986-2003). She also coached women’s tennis (1983-1986) and men’s cross country & track (1990-2003). Since 2003, Sarah has served as the Assistant Athletic Director, Senior Woman’s Administrator, Department Chair for Physical Education and Intramural Director. One of her most fulfilling roles is as the advisor for M Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Sarah also had the opportunity to serve on the NCAA Track and Field Committee from 1992-1999 during a time when that sport was making great strides in adding opportunities for women. During her tenure she was chair of the steeplechase development committee and saw the addition of that event, as well as, the pole vault, hammer throw and the longer distance races for women.
Sarah has been the Senior Woman Administrator since 1981 when that role was initially created during the transition from AIAW to NCAA. Sarah has served both the MIAA and GLVC as the AD/SWA Liaison for Track & Field to tirelessly promote and improve the conference championships in that sport. As a result of her contributions she received the NCAA Division II Cross Country Coaches’ Association Distinguished Service Award. Sarah has had the privilege of coaching several All-America performers in men’s cross country and men’s & women’s track & field. Sarah says that “I chose Division II” because it provides the ultimate opportunity to be involved in the development of the awesome student-athletes that we have at Missouri S&T. She feels truly blessed to have spent the bulk of her career at this institution! Sarah has two adult children, Carlee and Rafe, and one grandson, Nico.
