Bill Walker earned a bachelor of arts degree in history in 1987. He played basketball for legendary Miner coach Billy Key where he led the team in scoring his junior season and was team captain his senior year.
After graduation, Walker began his coaching career at the University of Alabama-Birmingham where he also earned a master of education degree. He then coached at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Central Missouri State University before coaching Division I at the University of Minnesota, Texas A&M, and Drake University. Prior to his current position as head coach of the Miners, Walker was the head coach for conference rival, the University of Illinois-Springfield. Walker was also a scout for New Orleans in the NBA.
Walker and his wife, Karen, have been married for 32 years and have two grown children, Vincent and Claire.
