About Steve McVeigh

Steve graduated from UMR with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1972.  He also received a professional degree from UMR in 2010.  He was a standout tight end on the football team while at the university.  He was inducted in the Miner Athletic Hall of Fame through the Miners’ 1969 football team which finished with a final record of 7-2 – the best mark posted by the school’s football team in 19 seasons.  The team, guided by head coach Dewey Allgood, opened that campaign with six straight victories, the first time that had occurred since 1914, and recorded victories over Southwest Missouri State and Illinois-Chicago at Soldier Field along the way.  Steve was one of six members of the team to earn All-MIAA honors.  Steve is currently with Celerant Consulting.  He has served various companies in the energy business, including Shell Oil where he was vice president of production; Altura Energy, where he was COO; and Sakhalin Energy, where he was CEO.  He has served on the board of directors of Enterprise Products, LTD and Offshore Energy Center and the Shell Offshore Pioneers.  He was awarded the Miner Alumni Association Alumni Achievement Award in 2000 and was made honor member of Chi Epsilon in 2009.  Steve and his wife of 36 years, Janet, live in Spring, Texas.  They have three sons, all of whom are graduates of Baylor University.
