About Sidney E. Duerr, Jr.

Sidney graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mining and petroleum engineering from the Missouri School of Mines in 1950. He was a four-year starter at defensive end for the football team and was a member of two conference championships in 1947 and 1948.  Sidney earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors as a defensive end in 1948 and 1949.  Sidney has supported the university’s programs for over 62 years and is a member of the Jackling Jocks.  He is a Legion of Honor member of AIME (SPE) and a Texas certified licensed engineer.  In addition, Sidney is a U.S. Navy World War II veteran who served during the invasion and occupation of Japan. His life work has been in the mining and petroleum engineering field and has ran Duerr Consulting with his son, Mike, since 1990. Sidney and his wife, Dorothy, live in Corpus Christi, Texas and have five children and 13 grandchildren.
