About Scott D. Stephens

Scott graduated from UMR in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. While at UMR, Scott was a 4-year starter on the football team that won the MIAA championship in 1980 and was MIAA co-champion in 1983.  The four-year stretch that Scott participated on the football team had the fewest losses in the history of the Miner program. The 1980 ream was 10-0 and finished the season ranked 10th nationally, while the 1983 won their last their last five conference games, including a shutout win over the Central Missouri State team it shared the title with. Scott played tight end and was honored three times on the MIAA all-conference team.  Scott currently resides in his hometown of Chillicothe, Mo., and works for the Missouri Department of Transportation, where he is the Northwest District bridge engineer. Prior to returning home, Scott worked for Black & Veatch for 15 years in its Power Division. Scott and his wife, Sherry, have 5 children.  Two of their children have attended Missouri S&T. Brooks (CE ’11) and Blake, a senior who is a current member of the Miner baseball team.
