About Cecilia (Gutierrez) Elmore

Cecilia grew up in Rolla and graduated from UMR with a bachelor’s degree in engineering management in 1986.  She also completed her masters of education degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2009.  Cecilia was a varsity athlete in softball, where she was the team’s most valuable player in 1982.  She earned “hitter of the week” honors in 1984, was co-captain of the softball team in 1985, and was on the all conference teams on all four of her playing years.  She still ranks among the top 10 for career home runs in the history of the Lady Miner program and was also a member of the women’s basketball team from 1981-1984.  Cecilia is currently director of the S&T Women’s Leadership Institute.  She is a member of many organizations including the Society of Women Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.  She is a registered professional engineer in Kansas.  She was named 2009 S&T Female Alumna of the Year by the Named Women Faculty group, and was voted an honorary member of M-Club in 2008. She and her husband, Curt, are members of the OGS and have chosen to make their OGS contributions to S&T athletics, specifically the men’s cross-country and the women’s softball and basketball programs.  Cecilia serves on many campus committees and groups, including the S&T Hall of Fame committee.  Cecilia is serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the AMA and as vice chair of the membership committee and attended the formation meeting in Rolla in April of this year.   She and her husband, Curt, live in Rolla.
